This exquisite original antique watercolour painting is signed by artist A.L Mawe, records show this is most likely Annie Louise Mawe (a British 19th/early 20th-century water-colourist).
The inscription on the front of the painting reads “Bordighera” Italy and on the back reads “a lovely garden – orange leaves & mimosa. – Bordighera.”
Bordighera was apparently a popular travel destination in the 1900s for talented British artists. They would paint on an art holiday of sorts to bring art home to sell or exhibit. The subject of the painting also confirms it was painted en plein air - outdoors and was a garden scene in the Italian Riviera.

It will be included with the purchase of the painting. The advertising dates the painting to the 1920s-1930s so it is approximately 100 years old! I enlisted the help of Alex @mootpointstudionz to help me restore this beautiful work back into its lovely oak frame and protect it with new glass.
